Anticipations vs Predictions

"Abey yeh dekh..mera dost bola ki yahan pe ek aadmi hai jo horoscopes bolta hai..woh bhi patte dekh ke..jo sach mein hota hai"..This was wat my fren told me in the office the other day..The conversation was overheard by a few colleagues and we started to have a discussion about it..Apparently one my fren's fren had been to this "aadmi" and what he said turned out to be quite real about the past years of the former's life..
So there were quite some speculations about this "aadmi" which went on for a few mins in the office..Ofcourse it was during a small tea break but nevertheless was an interesting discussion..
I was standing amidst the discussion going on which pretty much enveloped the whole atmosphere around and there was an unusual excitement in the air..
I'm not a steadfast believer in all these predictions and tarot reading and stuff..But that particular day i found myself wondering about a simple fact.
Is it that i really don't believe in all these things OR am i too scared to know the truth about my future(as they call it)..Then after a few mins of pondering amidst all the ruckus i concluded that it was the latter..I was indeed scared to know it..It might not be true and might just be bullshit OR it could be true and that was what was going to happen..
But considering the second possibility the feeling of already knowing what was going to happen is more scarier than the the thing happening itself..
There are many ways to know the future..Palm reading..Tarot reading..Tea leaves..and last but not the least dreams..
I'm currently reading this graphic novel called "The Sandman" which im beginning to like..Dreams are but a realm through which every human has to pass..That concept is good but however knowing the fact that dreams could play a role in our life is scary..
Well all this is again purely belief..You can either choose to believe the predictions or not..but sometimes you do get in a place where you have a dilemma either to believe all these things and predictions or just chuck it all and move on..Considering the fact that it is scary (atleast to me) to believe in all these i would rather leave it an enigma than to be known of what is going to happen in the future..Because the confidence of every human lies in the fact that they can make their own future and they're in the control of their own life..So if given a choice i would rather face the future with pure anticipation and excitement rather than being scared..Maybe luck does play a hand in all our lives..So lets leave it to that to do its job..Every dark cloud has a silver lining and every white cloud has a dark shade in it..

Undue "credit"

I was sitting and pondering over the last couple of days in this month.Had an awesome time but apparently my credit card got the heat of it cuz i used it quite generously.
Nevertheless when i was thinking about it, i was actually anticipating how many digits would the bill amount be, a funny possibility stuck me.
In this age of E-WORLD, where contacts and conversations happen thru E-mails..Match Making happens thru E-matrimony..Bills are received thru E-bills etc etc..Similarly payment is also made thru credit card..people are becoming too reckless about carrying cash..Carrying a credit card seems safer than carrying quite a load of money when u decide to do some expensive shopping.
To get closer to the point, everybody who is working, would know that one of the most irritating calls you get is from these private banks asking if we would like a credit card. And the best(or worst) part is the fact that these ppl are not bothered in the list about the number of credit cards we have.Just one card is enough for them to gain sufficient trust and offer us one of their own.
Well even though most of the payments could and are made by credit cards there's been one type of payment that cannot be done with a credit card.
Its the payment of a bill of ANOTHER credit card.
If that was possible there probably would've been a even worse recession that would've been going on. Cuz its more of this "virtual money" which gets locked.
To explain it in better words, lets consider there are 4 banks.Bank 1-Bank 4.And a person say Mr X has credit card of all the 4..
He uses Bank-1 to shop..Later he uses Bank-2 to pay the bill of Bank-1..The next month depending on the credit balance he can use Bank-1 to pay Bank-2..This is a permutation of 2.Put in Bank-3 and Bank-4 in the equation and it can basically be use to lock down quite an amount of cash which is of course virtual and would probably lead to worse recession.
The cyclic complexity would increase depending on the number of credit cards you can get and none of them would be blacklisted and you would be a regular customer for all of em which in turn increases your relationship with the bank.
Guess things W.R.T recession would probably have been worse than it already is, if credit cards indeed takes over every possible mode of payment..

P.S -- Kinda feels out of touch.Writing a post after a long time..

A vague sense of Hypocrisy

Well i'm gettin back to my blog after a long time..I too had those "Ah-nothin-in-my-mind-to-post-on-a-blog" times..A break!!
I thought today would be a better day to restart posting..
I took an off from work cuz..um..no particular reason as such..Just needed some time off..
So i thought i'd do somethin useful today..Talked to one of my frenz and gotta know that there was an orientation program regarding social service in this association called "Youth For Seva"..
The name of the organization seemed pretty familiar cuz i had read about it sometime when i was surfing the web a couple of days ago..SO i thought to give it a shot and i attended it..
Turned out to be a disappointment actually..Major reason was the fact that the orientation was for ppl who were ready to volunteer full-time..Sadly i cant..

So it was pretty much of an info session for me today..However i did take off during the first break..But when i was sitting thru the first session a couple of things hit my mind actually..The person who was orienting us was talkin about a thing where a lot of ppl actually do social service just for recognition..
But a very contradicting thing i felt was the simple fact that whenever anybody goes to an organization to join social service,be it full time or part time, the first thing they do is to orient them to the organization rather than social service..
A simple opinion is that social service is not something u teach in class or by telling ur experiences but is something u have to learn on the go..Quite similar to the "On the job" training given by corporate companies,it would be better to actually learn about social service WHILE doing it instead of sitting in a room and listening to experiences or DISCUSSING it..

Ppl who are novices in Social service, all they can do is analyze the situation by looking at it but not experiencing it..And for ppl like me who lack patience in such things, tend to lose interest cuz there are a lot of formalities of knowing the organization instead of actually helping somebody..
There are a very few places where formalities should be avoided and this should definitely be one of those.

A very hypocritical thing about few of such organizations are that they are more interested in explaining about the organization rather than making the volunteers do social service..
They do not want people to do social service just because they want recognition, but they want their organization to be recognized..Isnt this hypocritical??

A better thing to do by such organizations would be to actually take the novice volunteers directly to the place where they can indeed do some social service instead of trying to explain it to em..Once they actually have an on hand experience about it at least for a couple of times, then it would make sense to discuss about it and take some actions..
One more advantage of this is that if the volunteer is satisfied about the kind of work the organization does, he automatically develops interest in knowing more about the organization..It need not be forced to him..If he doesnt feel they're doin a good job he would quit and join some other place where he finds solace..
Is this something to be thought of or just my misconception!!

P.S - Youth for Seva do seem to be a promising organization..However no solid opinion from me as of now..Ppl can join it either full time or part time..FYI visit www.youthforseva.org

A "REAL" sixer : Delhi 6

Ok..seriously what kinda movies do ppl like these days!!
There was a loser who rated 5 stars for DevD?? And quite surprisingly it was a critic for TOI..I mean have they become so perverted!! Come on!! If ur so desperate watch something "else" losers..
And apparently these are the same ppl who ALSO said Delhi6 was the worst movie ever..
Well they probably were too dumb to get the movie..
When i heard the reviews from ppl i know i was really surprised about the fact that ROMP would come up with a "WORST" movie.
BUt nevertheless i believed ppl this time..I lost the interest to go to the theatre to watch it and maybe now i'm wishing i had been to the movies.
Its a movie with unmatched class in the genre of subtlety..Its not that gr8 an entertainer either but if ur really for some "ok-this-seems-to-be-boring-but-infact-has-a-grip" kinda movie u have to watch Delhi6..
The director has taken the element of subtlety to a whole new level..The serious and disturbing part of Indian society are shown in a very light and humorous way yet it does have its intended effect..And the serious part of the movie is taken seriously only in the 2nd half..
I read the graphic novel "watchmen" two days ago and i found a striking similarity to the ending of Delhi6 too..
Four words: "For the Greater Good"
The movie has AB Jr in a pretty simple role..And his role should be a stereotype of the new generation cool dudes..Quite sadly it isnt..
Questioning things but actually trying to find the answer,is what is required instead of blaming and criticising ppl for their old ways, old practices..
The movie is an eye opener for ppl who think India as being a sad country(IF they want their eyes to be opened)..The reason they give when asked why they moved out of India is not cuz they hate the things here, but its cuz they are probably scared to do anything about it.
Its a sad thing that, in India when once upon a time Hindus and Muslims indeed coexisted in harmony as neighbours, sharing and celebrating each other's festivals has now turned into blood battles and feuds for the most trivial reasons..
The main underlying thought of the movie which's what ROMP probably wanted to present is that:
"No matter how hard we try to prove amongst ourselves that we are the stronger ones, there will be atleast a few forces or entities that will scare the hell out of us and eventually make us team up with each other for the greater good..Call it Ram..or Allah..or Destiny..Its all the same.."

And the world probably needs such a thing to happen to put an end to all the "RED" shades in the country..

P.S- 4/5 Stars..Rakeysh OM Prakash Mehra has "Actually" done it again..DO watch it if u haven't..But with NO expectations.

Twittering Away

Twitter is the hot topic on the internet these days.I gotta know about this tiny lil brat application a couple of days ago when i was talkin 2 my cousin..And when i heard it for the first time, i was like WTF..what a waste of time..turns out that i am "Spending" quite some time trying to dig up stuff about it from the past few days..
As they say in the site: Its a service to stay connected with friends and family members with an answer to a simple question. "What are you doing?"
Well it really sounds like a bummer when u hear it for the first time, and the same thing happened to me..But actually i'm enjoying it quite a lot now.
I found hundreds of ppl trying to make new Apps trying to integrate it with many social networking websites like Orkut and Facebook, and there are quite a few of em out there. You can now update ur Facebook status using twitter..And it'd be gr8 if these guys come up with an interface 2 link it to Gmail n Orkut status as well..That would be Omega cool..
But here is the best part..I came across this ultimate programmer guy whoz made a jar file out of this called TWIM and it ROCKS!!
In India the WiFi usage thru mobile and 3G networks haven't gained much popularity..YET..So this app is the one you want to be looking for..It uses GPRS and updates ur Twitter status..Which in turns updates ur Facebook status..
So the next time ur out to a cool restaurant hogging yummy food..or watching a terrible movie..or saw a gorgeous gal..or probably had a narrow escape from an accident(cuz u were looking @ the gal and dint watch out for that car)...
Don't wait till you get back to post it thru the web....Tweet it LIVE!

P.S - www.Twitter.com for more details and the programmer is Tommi Laukannen

Adaptation

Adaptation is the most common biological behavior..
Also it is a very funny thing..
It makes ppl adjust to "change" in their normal lives easily..Nevertheless it also makes it harder to adjust to "new" changes in lyf cuz of the previous adjustment..
I've seen about 5 places by now as my new home..Everytime when i move to a different place..
It becomes easy to adjust to the new place which also makes it very hard to forget the old one..
There are a couple of things which will be lingering its sweet scent even after u move away from it..And its the course of time for it to eventually get replaced by the fresh fragrance of newer things..
Few of such things are the ones which happen totally unplanned, and unexpected..Enigma is always interesting which definitely makes it worth of remembrance..
Meeting unexpected ppl..a pleasant conversation with a complete stranger..a journey with a fren on a diff side..a hitchhike in a place u do not know..
Is it adaptation which makes us enjoy such things or is it the same adaptation to "new" things which makes it harder to forget the "older" ones..

P.S - Will miss you Mysore :-(

360

Why are dashing captions so important for a post!!
Maybe is it because that it will catch the reader's attention or is it because that the matter in the post is so damn boring that u at least want the caption to be interesting..
Most of the ppl who are "forced" to read blogs will opt for the second one im sure..This might probably be one such post..
Philosophy is called boring by a lot of ppl..But they say that its mostly ppl who fail to understand it or ppl who are dumb enough to make their own philosophy..Well to be honest philosophy can be boring when u are at the receiving side of it..However its one thing that is closely linked with psychology..The latter deals with understanding ppl's minds..Understanding how they react to situations..How they think..But the former...it deals with analyzing and "changing" the way they think..
Thinking is what makes a person take decisions..So it maybe good that if a magic potion was there which was a mixture of philosophy and psychology in the right amounts ppl wouldve taken a decision which can be termed 100% right!! Such a potion would give "Felix Felicis" a run for its money..
So about a ques i was thinkin about recently..
Why is it that sometimes when we are confronted by a situation which we had long ago anticipated, long ago planned for whats called the "perfect" decision,to take it when it
was time,we fail to take that decision wondering if its actually right!!
Cuz after that You'll be right back where you started..A total 360 degree turn..

P.S - Felix Felicis is a magic potion that gives 100% good luck..(Courtesy: Harry Potter)
